Diabetes Symptoms To Be Aware Of

A diabetes symptom is something that manifests in the human body if a person has this condition. There are several diabetes symptoms that one can connect almost certainly to the disease. Getting to know which diabetes symptom is in the body is something that a person with a family history of this disease should know. Many of the symptoms that occur in type 1 and type 2 diabetes can also be a gestational diabetes symptom.

Thirst

A feeling of thirst that does not get quenched even when drinking some kind of beverage is a diabetes symptom that has a lot of consequences. Dehydration is something that can occur to the person who is diabetic even if he or she drinks a lot of water. Dehydration can actually be dangerous since this can affect the major organs of the body. This diabetes symptom is something that happens along with frequent visits to the restroom. Both the unquenchable thirst and restroom trips are symptoms of diabetes, either type 1 or type 2 that usually go together.

Weight Loss

This diabetes symptom usually happens to those who suffer from type 1 diabetes faster than those who have type 2 diabetes. The body, which needs its supply of insulin, is deprived of this so it breaks down fats and muscles to get the glucose that it needs from these. Since fats and muscles are not unlimited in the body, the individual may grow thin rapidly, if he has type 1 diabetes. If this diabetes symptom is left unchecked, muscle mass is reduced and the individual will feel lethargic and easily tired.

Neuropathy

This diabetes symptom occurs when the individual des not do anything to manage the disease. The individual experiences a tingling or numb sensation in the extremities, among them the fingers and toes. Fingers and toes are just the beginning, left untreated or unnoticed, the feet, legs and arms will eventually succumb to this diabetes symptom. The reason for neuropathy is when the nerve endings are damaged due to the excessive presence of glucose in the system. The treatment for this diabetes symptom is treating the disease itself. Improvements in the sensations or numbness may occur after a few months of medications or lifestyle changes.

These are just a few of the diabetes symptoms that may have a big effect on people. Doctors always recommend sticking to a diabetic diet and getting regular exercise to be able to manage and control the disease.
